Strings

I play the strings of a distant upheaval
Right behind for all to see
The time, I admit, is a plane of evil
So I’ll look around and let it be

I watch the loss of a perfect painting
And continue with my song
I’ll let it die just to end the waiting
And then I’ll dance along

So equal but so divided
I could just watch it all for days
Death and anger before they’ve truly decided
And I’ll sing as they each have their say

I play my strings to a lively vision
Until my strings have played their last
And so it’s goodbye until I find permission
To fix my strings and leave what’s passed

I stand again and rejuvenate eyesight
I find that I see more
Each string that I break earns me another insight
And I now play stronger than before
