String of Lights

String of Lights David J Walker Stretching as far back as I can remember A string of lights shines (one at a time) On each day The wall plug energizes from Deep within the last century Dulling each mise-en-scène That is numbered As I walk down its namesake lane The nearest shine bight (At last fading into a distant past) as The bulbs flicker their luster and Vanish from sight
