Strength

Strength

I made a promise to myself,
When this was at a start.
That I wouldn’t stick around,
For the knife through the heart.

But I must have lied,
For here I still am.
Fighting this fight,
I can’t possibly hope to win.

Why is letting go,
Such a hard thing to do.
When you know in your heart,
That something is through.

Why do I hold on?
When I’m screaming inside.
When every emotion,
Is on a rollercoaster ride.

I can’t change the future,
While I’m living in the past.
With the pace that I’m on,
Not sure I can last.

But yet I sit here,
Writing down my pain.
Hoping for the words,
In which strength to gain.
