Story Left Untold

Scarred and bruised
Beaten and broken
Hold it all in
these words unspoken

Bound at the hands
Tied at the feet
No one to know
of my pitiful defeat

A beautiful mask
To hide my eyes
A smile painted on
Mouth pouring out lies

If they only knew
Weakness lying within
Brittle and fragile
Tattered and thin

But they see what I choose
What glitters is gold
My secret kept safe
My story left untold

It was such a pleasure to read your poetry today ARRR. I hope to be able in the next few weeks to find the time and energy to read and comment. May you walk through the garden of inspiration and continue to write and share your poetry with us. Love, Carol
