Storm

I stand where it’s most dangerous.
Just a girl in distress.
A storm enters the hall.
This will be the biggest storm this fall.
I don’t like when the water flows.
Especially when the power goes.
I saw my best friend, he still has his eyes.
His hair is covering his face, as he cries.
Just a guy in distress.
The ceiling is collapsing and dangerous.
I learned about storms as a kid.
They told us to stay hid.
But maybe, we’ll scream a song.
Against the storm we sing along.
Danger knows nothing about time.
So we have a few hours to rhyme.
And maybe a few weeks to contemplate the wreckage.
We can become sage.
Or we can become dangerous, ourselves.
Like all the fallen shelves.
Like wires soaked in dirty water.
Days with no air conditioning are hotter.
Sit on the living room chair.
It’s torn, but we don’t care.
Watching TV seems too trite.
So together we howl into the blight.
