Stone Standing Still
How are you, a rough stone,
On a side of the road,
Standing still?
You have lived many lives,
You have seen different times.
Not your will.
You witnessed the wars,
Fought with spears and swords,
You weren’t moved.
Then you saw weapons change,
Reaching long distant range.
You withstood.
You saw humans’ errors-
Killers and terrorists.
Had no fear.
You saw nature’s mistakes-
Flood, tsunami, earthquake.
Shed no tears.
Well, you’d weep, you’d cry,
You would suffer and die.
If not a stone.
Without soul, without heart
Time is all you have had.
It owns you.
Wonder if you regret
That forever you’re let
Just to live.
Wonder if you’d trade that
For a fast - beating heart,
Just to love.
