Stirrings of Spring

~ Stirrings of Spring ~

  a bright-eyed bud 
  on a mulberry bush

  a robin's chirping 
midst the melting slush

  fresh tulip leaves
push up through the earth

All these, to pangs of love 
  in my soul, give birth
