Still Searching 2
August 2025
Dalton Ogletree
Shadows talk when the lights go dead,
I been fightin’ battles inside my head.
Truth cuts deep, it bleeds instead,
I found some things I wish I fled.
Scars from a world that don’t forgive,
Pain the only proof I live.
Trust fades fast, that’s relative,
Hope feels fake—so repetitive.
Still searching, through the dirt and the rain,
Tryna make sense of this hurt and pain.
Every thought just circles the drain,
The truth I chase keeps driving me insane.
People praise the things that kill ‘em slow,
They smile on the surface, rot below.
Evil got roots, it loves to grow,
And I water mine when I lose control.
These drugs talk sweet but they lie to me,
Dreams fade out like a dying TV.
Energy bends, reality leaks,
My reflection—don’t even look like me.
Yeah, I been slipping deeper
But I ain’t drowning.
Just… floating in circles.
Birds fly high, I stare through smoke,
Wishing I could rise, but hope’s a joke.
Every prayer I wrote got soaked,
Every promise made got broke
Money don’t mend what the soul can’t touch,
Love don’t last—it just hurts too much.
Every truth burns, every lie cuts,
Every thought spins, I been outta luck.
Heaven don’t answer, hell don’t care,
I been talkin’ to ghosts that ain’t there.
The mirror stares, my mind’s impaired,
I’m right here—but barely aware.
Still searching, through the dark and the rain,
Tryna make peace but it all feels strange.
Every scar just spells my name,
Every loss—I feel the same.
