Still

If you only knew
how deep inside I STILL love you.

It was a dream so sweet
it STILL sweeps me off my feet.

I'm STILL yours heart and soul
in a love story a thousand years old.

                This longing so strong
for you and to you I STILL belong.

                Will it fade away someday
                  when my hair is gray?

When I can't hear our song
or when my mind is gone?

                 Will my heart forget
                   or STILL remember you yet?

Will I STILL want to hear your voice?
Do I even have a choice?

Yes, a thousand years may come and go
but there's one thing I'll always know,

I'll STILL love you.
                     I'll STILL... love... you.

A lovely expressive poem Carole, I feel the sadness in it. If only we could have an on and off switch button for our emotions. Wishful thinking, though, we are what we are. A fave for me ...Maria hugs

Yes, but if we had that "on-off" switch I guess we'd be like robots. Besides, the "on" is worth the pain to me. Thank you so much for your comment, Maria, and for the "fav". Carole :D

Losing a beloved person does not leave one with much choice, but at least there are still lovely memories to fall back on. Yours is a lovely expressive poem based on longing, sad emotions, and unanswered questions, Carole. ~ Regards // paul

Thank you, Paul. I know many many people go through this but it gets harder as you get older and you know "Time" is short. Carole ;(
