Steel Gray

Steel gray cotton balls hang suspended
Sky blue sky accents each ball
As the distant sun inches up
Realizing the roosters call

An acorn looses its hold and falls
Lands on the roof or barn  
One ping upon shingled roof top
Shrill squeal on barn tells yarn

Dampness and cool opens this fall day
There's stillness undefined
Life seems to move slowly forward
Good and evil seem intertwined

What a beautiful poem this is Sara, I really love the title, though I prefer to use the spelling "grey" instead of "gray", it's just something that I have developed over the years that I prefer! Not that "gray" is incorrect or anything, just not my preference! I really enjoyed your last stanza the best, I thought it resonated very well with what you were trying to say!
