Sweat-drenched heat victims crank up the AC’s. Temperate weather has bid us adieu. Energy is sapped; for some, optimism grows dim. Alleviation follows the occasional rainstorm. Many rely on swimming pools for brief respite. Yesterday was hot; today will be a record-breaker.
