Staying In the Shade

"Let's go out!" they cried, "Summertime's just begun!
Grab the lotion and towels and the new watergun,
Let's prepare a picnic and call up everyone!
Aren't you going outside to soak up the sun?"

"Not I," I replied, "for summer brings me pain;
It reminds me of times which no longer remain,
So I'll just stay inside and watch out for the rain,
And wait for the winter to come back again."
