State of the Art
Today, I poured out the content of my heart.
I emptied the past and threw out the weak part.
I tore up anger, bitterness and hate
shredding all parts that belittle and berate.
I patched up compassion, empathy and love;
sealed in benevolence I was empty of.
Arrogance I once paraded with pride,
lain to rest with deception; side-by-side.
Ego and vanity were torn into bits.
Righteousness and purity were made to fit.
Crumbled and tossed, revenge and ill will.
Pieced back together was friendship and goodwill.
When I was finished, I knew that my heart,
a complex organ, was now state of the art.
