State of Mind

Plagued by darkness
Marked for death
No grip on life
Controlled by meth
He drove into a sea
Of shame, pain, and worry
Altered state of mind
Reality now blurry
Scared of what the critics
May say to his face
Disgraced by the lies
Locked inside a dreadful place
Outside he seemed alright
But inside his soul was screamin
Fighting a mental battle
To try and shake the demon
Counseling and efforts
Made on his part
Guided to the light
With a brand new start
For over a decade my uncle
Was so blind
Now sitting in the church
With a fresh state of mind

Difficulties we encounter in our lives leave scars, it does take time to heal. Your poetic piece of a troubled mind is very well presented. Well done Shawn

The mind is so powerful, this was an excellent write to demonstrate that.
