Stars of Clarity

I'm tired, I'm lifeless, I'm broken, I want to give up
I'm emotionless, and if I weren't a hopeless romantic, I'd be heartless
Where do I go from here, I ask myself while I'm stuck in bed
How do I get to the next chapter when I'm stuck reading the same sentence because I'm distracted by life
I ask myself driving on the highway to work
Gripping the wheel with everything I have left I close my eyes for 2 seconds
Hands sweaty, grip slipping, reality fading, I open my eyes in the other lane
Horn honking waking up the dead side of me, what's going on?
Focus, my exit is coming up, my breakfast is coming up, my confidence is down
Just breathe I tell myself as every gasping breath escapes the chains of fear
I close my eyes again and remember the stars of clarity in your fleeting gaze
Your eyes bring me back to earth when I am in hell
If heaven looked at me, I imagine it would stare the same you did for those 7 seconds in spring
I still cherish that memory; my eyes smile as they open until I realize I missed my exit
Oh well.
p.s. the constellations couldn't guide my heart the same way you look my direction, I don't need directions anymore...
