Stars

I carry stars in my mind, Stars in my eyes, Stars in my pockets, Stars in my heart. I have a lot of stars Some brighter than others, But they shine nonetheless I keep some hidden behind my walls The ones that are too bright or too dark Not quite good enough for all to see But here you are, and here am I In my hand I hold out to you a cluster of broken stars Secrets and memories Relics of every war I have fought. These stars are for you. Cradle them in the palm of your hand Listen to their stories, and feel their pain For these stars are a part of me. Please don’t let them go Don't lose them or push them away Because that means losing me, Pushing me away. I gift you my dimmest stars Because I know you will gift them light Even though I trust you to embrace my brightest stars, Can I trust you with these?
