Stars
He who has yet to see the night
Has never glimpsed pure hope and light,
Has never laughed at all the fight,
For he has not glimpsed the star,
Burning through air from afar.
He who has yet to see the dark,
Has never felt the sense of lark,
Never broke the teeth of a shark,
Has never yet felt pure glee,
Has never hung out with me.
He who has yet to see the moon,
Has never written a sad tune,
Has never looked forward to soon,
Has never experienced hope,
And never learned how to cope.
He has yet to see the gray
Has not had a fulfilling day,
Has never dug between the hay,
To find a buried treasure,
And to seek some true pleasure.
He who has yet to see the night,
Has never tried with all their might,
Has never looked beyond their sight.
He who hasn’t seen the stars
Oh, he must have lived on Mars-
For never has Earth seen a man
who has not seen the night…
