Let's get away and see the night
we'll find a place that has no light.
We shouldn't have to go too far
where we can see a shooting star.
Prairie, forest, mountains high;
any place to see the sky.
Bring a blanket to keep warm,
but don’t go out if there’s a storm.
Plan some time so it will last,
you’ll see some things from distant past.
At first the Milky Way you’ll see;
the clustered edge of our galaxy,
it has two hundred billion suns
connect the dots with brighter ones.
Some are planets, some are not,
some are cool and others hot.
But one thing I can surely say;
they are all very far away!
About a thousand years their light
has traveled to become our night.
