Stark Reality

There has become a void in the kitchen
The lights are off and it's much too dark
Some hold a pen with fingers twitchin'
with aggressive hatred much too stark
They bark about things they conceive
as truth, but a web of deceit they weave.

Their eyes perceive with visions blurred
Their perceptions and theories proved false
and so, they continue with words slurred
to bash while tripping the steps of a waltz
What wildling creature tries to take a stand
at the expense of ridiculing a fellow man

I'm writing verses as a rhymester would
not to bury Caesar using my pen as a knife
No sword do I wield, although I wish I could
to silence ones who cry like a bloody fishwife
Those who defile others while seeking fame
Those whose eyes are jealous are to blame

And so, for those to whom these lines apply
I'm left with confusion and frankly, disbelief
why anyone would dare besmirch a poet by
writing insulting words that might cause grief
What makes you see others with hateful eyes
What bitterness makes you loathe and despise

That's the stark reality I find disheartening now
I wish somehow it would blow away in the wind
Why wallow around in filthy muck like a sow
If you're offended by this, it's time you resind
the negative words you keep using in taunting
Malevolence has a way of returning by haunting

I'm glad, perhaps in my naïveté, that I am unaware of this situation personally. I am also glad that you have shared your strength to defend others. What can't everybody just love each other! I know I am an overly sentimental dreamer but that's me! Your talent shines! Happy Saturday xxoo

I admire you, Mike, for being what you claim is an 'overly sentimental dreamer.' Don't change for it's better to care about people than to try and knock them down by hitting low. I appreciate your kind words about my poetry. Enjoy the weekend.

Again we see it, a nobody trying to be somebody, well he's certainly going about it the wrong way. Well written Jenna. Tom

Thanks, Tom. I don't even know how some get away with it. Belly crawlers.

Jenna, a powerful poem, sad that these poets have to sour the soup. I always seem to miss the drama on PS and not sure what inspired your poem. I think I just figured it out by your title.

Thanks, Tania. The saddest part of it is that it's a stretch to call such people 'poets.' Writing what they think are disguised slurs about those who are deceased is the lowest kind of slander. 'Every dog will have its day'....I hope so.

Be careful Jenna...as in hockey fights it always seems to be the "third man in" gets the penalty and he's usually the one trying to keep it from escalating....

In this case I’m not looking for a fight, just a little respect shown to each other. I already sat in the penalty box for someone else’s high stick. I appreciate your concern, too, John. Thank you.

Can’t believe this situation persists on this site of positivity and encouragement. I’d sure be positively encouraged if the perp(s) could be sent packing. I guess we should empathise their sad empty existence. Keep striking out, Jenna… but don’t go getting yourself banned again. Terry

Thanks, Terry. I’ve only stated an opinion and if that’s not allowed I’d just as soon find someplace else to post my thoughts. I realize I’m going to be ignored or chastised but I’m holding true to my beliefs. Thanks for your concern.

although i've read about this person (or persons), particularly in poems by milt, i haven't had this happen to me in a very long time. still, i admire your gumption in letting this person know exactly how horrible he (or she) is and how much people have been hurt. bravo, jenna!

Thank you, Ilene. It's been done by people of both genders and is nothing short of rude condescension. I appreciate you for leaving your kind feedback.

Malevolence indeed. The depiction of someone with intent to smear, harm, eradicate. Let's not suffer fools on PS. ;o|

It's an atrocious occurrence, Arlo, but it's real. I admire you for commenting. Most who have read this, fear some sort of retaliation, but where's the integrity in doing nothing? Thank you for reading and leaving your thoughts, AP.

Ah you see it too Jenna, the mockery coming from an absolute nihilist, who wallows in their own self inflicted misery, but like the name suggests will ultimately achieve nothing, yes indeed your wonderful Rhyming poem, is straight to the point in its non-revolving manner, cheers David

I've known for a long time how a couple of poets have made a game of taunting others, those I know about did so to Milt many times, up to the point in which he could no longer ignore it. I hope they feel disgusted with themselves for having done so, but I doubt those with hate filled eyes ever see themselves as being anything other than self-serving.
