Star Stickers

Some teachers once used stickers To reward a super grade. Originally, star-shaped ones Were all the ones they made. My grandson's potty-training, too, Involved those stick-on stars, Which also were exchangeable For varied Hot Wheels cars. His younger sister somehow Got her hands on quite a few. Despite her age, she right away Knew just what she should do. So now I'm finding, on her chair, The cabinets, the floor, A galaxy of shining stars To jazz up the decor.

This made me smile, Ilene:) As a young pupil I got those stars at school, then when I started teaching I made use of them, too. The first stickers I gave my granddaughter were stars...and she stuck them all round the house! Regards // paul

Gosh, this poem reminds me of my grammar school days when getting a star (gold were the highest) next to one's name or pasted on one's test paper was super like winning the Nobel prize! Though at home, doing a good job with chores garnered a coin. / M

I never took down the stars that light up on the celing when I turn off the light in my daughters' bedrooms Ilene. It's a lovely reminder of when they were small.

It is so true how children love stickers. Stars, for work achieved, are especially welcome. It is a great way to dangle the carrot. Works every time! : ) 7

aww what a cute rhyme:-) how wonderful that the reward system still works - we always had coloured stars but now I guess anything can be put on a sticker. You may have to think of an alternative reward for your grand daughter lol:-) hugs Jan ss

That was cute Ilene. Sounds like you have a little star running around that house leaving her signature on everything. :)
