Standing Still

The storm threshes the forest
Limbs and branches are broken
And I, alone in my emptiness
Search for your love's kind token
By standing still

The billows toss behemoth tides
The waves around me heighten
Mast or lighthouse, nothing abides
All that can be shaken is shaken
I'm standing still

To see the dry land when the river
Rolls back the curtain of your power
To find my shelter in the Creator
My Rock, my shelter, my deliverer
Here standing still

For not in the earthquake and the fire
Not in the thunder and the storm, alone
I wait to see the prayer of my desire
In the silence beside his merciful throne
I'm standing still

Beauty in every verse....oh, if I could only write like this!! "when the river rolls back the curtain..."....your lines are magnificent, L'nass! Your poetry outshines us all! ~ Carrie
