Standards

Do men today Find it hard to agree A gentleman's word was his bond Years ago, you could believe me. After a diplomatic discussion Before agreeing on a deal The men would shake hands warmly Making that deal sealed The trust between these gentlemen It was not unusual in times past, A promise was a promise A contract made to last. Respect for each other Was expected by all, It costs nothing to be civil And helps standards not to fall. I understand that life It is not all black and white, But trust and respect It would help to put most things right. How much easier Everyone's lives would be.
