Stand

There stands a woman with the light from the stars flickering in her eyes Knowing that while she stands there, her life has gone awry She stands there still with dreams that are all her own She in that very spot with so much burden upon her yet all so alone Her wishes are like many are, to have that one man meant only for her to have and to hold To love her for who she is no matter how young or how old But love seems to be, for her, taking its very slow sweet time She is thinking that love can sometimes leave one helpless and blind Letting go of the one you really love and adore The one who was the first to say he would love only her forever more She don't know how to just let go He is so deep inside her restless soul If she could make those feelings go away she would If those emotions would go back down to where they once were, she then would put them where she should But they can't just be turned on and off in a moments given So by them her heart, soul, and mind is being driven She does not have any kind of complete control over her own life She wrestles with the regrets of her past with great strife They haunt and taunt her every moments with tremendous rife Her heart and soul are bleeding and love is holding the knife He is every breath she takes While her heart forever waits and endlessly breaks She is left her to wonder just how much will she keep forsaking With her body trembling and she's unsteady from all the shaking She hopes for that day, the one where he will again call She thinks of him in her waking daylight, she thinks of him when the shadow of darkness falls She stands there at the window now still gazing up at the stars Loving him constantly praying to have him near, but doing so from afar Carrying her weight from her world upon her shoulders on her own Wanting to hold him, yet still all so alone She then glances in the mirror only to finally clearly see That woman standing in the very spot is no one other but me
