Stalker
I remember seeing that shadow;
it had that distinct shape
She hovered around me a few weeks back
but surely enough she disappeared
Now it's returned and I recall
the feeling of dread she gave me the first time she visited
Because that anxiety returned
A pair of eyes that penetrate
my head, can see my inner being and thoughts race
The shadow knows what games to play
She plays hop-scotch on my fear
Rolls dice to decide my insecurity
I cannot fathom the depth of her cruelty
She is the snake when I escape up a ladder
only to slide down her and start this game again
I may never win
The shadow keeps returning
A black storm cloud over my head of distrust
Forever playing games to monopolise
and take me away to her lair
I wait for the sunlight
Where the shadow cannot follow.
