Stale Vermouth

Dismay that I am so blithely uncouth As to bluntly say what is on my mind, So, I shall blame the stale vermouth. Dismay that I am so bitterly uncouth To go through life with this sad truth, It is necessary, I admit, for me to find Dismay that I am so blithely uncouth, As to bluntly say what is on my mind. written October 15, 2021

A fine triolet, Milton. I cook with white vermouth but drink the red version as an aperitif. Not at all into martinis though I tried one when much younger and found it tasted more like kerosene. I'm strictly a wine drinker./ Maurice

I like a good wine with dinner, but now and then I get adventurous and have a martini...no vermouth, please. I like my martinis very, very dry!

Hmmm does that excuse work? I don’t think I’ve ever had vermouth.

If you've ever had a martini, it probably had vermouth in it. The dryer the martini, the less vermouth. I doubt that the excuse works anywhere else, but it'll do the trick in poetry! Hope you're enjoying your visit.

As long as you freshen it up just a bit before it leaves your lips so that the 'ver-mouth' makes a fitting exit from 'your-mouth.' ~ Cheers, gw

My bluntly comes out often. I used to try to moisten it, soften it, make it sweet. It works best straight.

I'm coming to believe that myself.
