Stabilisers

Stabilisers

An arm like knotted oak holding
me
I'm rocking the bars to and fro
stabilisers undone
now clicking and clicking
expansion joints
on grey pavement
yer alright he says
keep going
keep going
a wall a tree
racing to meet me
yer all right he shouts
And now I stop, look back
he's not there and I'm an old man
old man without training wheels
