Springs First Black Night

Honeysuckles on my tongue
Remind me of when I was young
A Mockingbird came by to sing
Eased my pain from the nettles sting
A fog that veils the earth's first petals
Like dust that doesn't seem to settle
Rain patters on my thirsty skin,
soft as the whispering wind
Time moves forward, leaves us in the clear
The taste of new beginnings near
Honeysuckles on Spring's first black night
Kiss of fresh air's earliest delight
