Spring's Debut
Spring sends scented breezes
when Winter's grip eases,
though water still freezes,
and snows renew.
While songbirds were singing,
the sleigh bells stopped ringing,
icicles stopped clinging,
and winds withdrew.
A snowman melts away
on a tepid Spring day
and pools by the walkway;
bid it adieu.
With wild rivers flooding,
pussy willows budding
and prairie grouse thudding,
it's Spring's debut.
As the green buds unfold,
it's a sight to behold,
poised upon Spring's threshold,
life starts anew.
