Spring Reverie

I heard the maytime robin sing His merry voice has wakened spring; Each golden note bursts forth to soar Where sound and blossom now restore. The drowsy earth sheds winter's rest And all that slept find spring confessed That radiant song that fills the air Brings good news beyond compare. The birds proclaim with joyful tune The raptures of impatient June; With potent scent the blooming flowers Perfumes time with fragrant hours A nest well hidden in a tree Holds new life we can't yet see; The crimson rose perfumes the gale The virgin lily crowns the vale. Where sun and shadows come to dwell Seductive spring will cast her spell.

Francine really does love spring, Elizabeth, but even a hot-blooded Floridian can appreciate the beautiful descriptions that make your poem a joy to read. The robins seem to hang out here year-round. If this is an entry for the "June" contest, I wish you success! Love, Carolyn

I love Spring! great imagery in this exquisite piece Elizabeth ( unfortunately all I hear at the moment is a noisy crow coaking outside the window, he's drowning out my chattering canaries)

Mrs. Elizabeth, your poetry never misses a beat or fails to impress with solid meter and rhyme. As always, very vivid imagery, and I think some of the most beautiful I've read in awhile. It really creates an image in the mind of the reader. Thanks for sharing. P.S. It seems like spring will never come :(

I am in AWE of your talent Lizzie. I don't think even 'Frost's' poetry can compare with this beautiful masterpiece. I have a file for all the poems of yours that are my favorites and this one shines just a bit brighter than the rest. Welcome Spring Indeed!!! Love, Lotus Thank you for your generous comments on my poems. You are too kind.

"A nest well hidden in a tree." This rings true, except we have kittens - two litters, from stray mammas, on our front porch, 5 and 3, totaling 8. The 5 are so tiny and new that we have put up a wall by our front steps, so the kittens won't get out and get lost. So, Spring is quite different this year. As usual, your poem is complete and perfect. Love, daver

Oh 10/10 for this one Elizabeth!!!! You've written it as a sonnet haven't you? You have a perfect iambic tetrameter here that just walks gently over the paper. Excellent!!!
