Spring Coverlet
SPRING COVERLET
The coverlet with daisy print and leaves
And rolling hills like eyes of deepest green.
The depth of blue in skies of sunny zest
Bless musicality of trumpet sleeves.
The day strong shouts - a blanket sage of shine
With diamondiferous embrace of stars.
The mammillary clouds drop leaking rain
And luscious berries birth forth ruby wine.
The quilting zig zag of the center planes,
Artistic stitch of patriotic wheat,
A queen atop a float of rosy jewels,
The splash of hands and feet in soaking rains.
The rocking of an evening chair on porch
And warming of her knees with handkerchief.
The full Spring moon wide smiles and lightens chores
As rails age-creak and grandpa lights the torch.
