Spring

When springtime comes, and frost is done,
Within the earth a rhythm drums,
The clouds roll back; the stags all run,
A fire burning in the sun.

The heartbeat in the land grows strong,
The sunlight glows as days are long,
The sparrows sing an endless song,
The trees all swaying; throng on throng.

A fragrance comes with wind’s sweet breeze,
A current strong that moves the leaves,
The music dances in the trees,
A sweeping song that melts the freeze.

A hush, a breath, a foretaste fair,
The thrill of spring runs through the air,
What joy it is beyond compare,
Release from dreaded winter’s glare.
