Spirit of the Wolf
In gleaming drifts of white
Silent paws upon the land
Hunters, fierce and loyal
Long before arrival of man
She hunted to survive
Raised her pups to be free
Inside the wolf a women's spirit
Wild, as she was meant to be
With amber eyes she watches
Man's attempt to rid the land
Of everything he can't control
Seeking to manipulate or demand
She sees the fences to keep them out
The traps to cruelly kill her kind
Wonders why the spirit of the wolf
Threatens so much in this time
For in the past it wasn't this way
Man and wolf had shared the wild
Each learning from the other
Like a mother and a beloved child
She raises sorrowful amber eyes
To beseech the Moon God above
Protect the spirit of the wolf
And the world she has come to love
