Spirit of Nature Soothes Me

Love of nature give me daily grace to face What’s happening during pandemic disgrace. I sit in the sun which is worlds of fun The cardinals in the oaks clearly on the run Not afraid of bugs I give my trees some hugs Sunshine keeps me happier than any drugs Cardinals chase each other giving me delight I watch soaring eagle until he’s out of sight Can hear chatty rooster over the back hill Cannot ruffle solitude or robin’s trill. At bare edge of other’s most terrible loss Spirit of nature keeps me out of chaos. Written April 23, 2020 Contest: Grace and Solitude Sponsor: John Hamilton

this is lovely, caren! i may see different birds (pigeons and sparrows) from the ones you see but i agree that nature is a huge help at this time. on my morning walk i see gorgeous pink-blossomed trees and bright red and yellow tulips - so uplifting! i also see some boats chugging on the river, which is a nice sight...

I am so glad we have nature; she is keeping my optimism alive.

Love this. Great poem for John's contest! If he he likes it half as much as me you'll be on the podium. xomo

Whether we like it or not, Caren, this virus has given a lot of us the chance to watch what nature is really all about and gives us all a chance to see nature in all of her glory, rather than rushing passed it to commit to work, maybe just maybe this is what we are really being taught here, give that tree a hug from me and a hug from me to you too . . . : )

I do wonder if this is a lesson for us to slow down and enjoy what we have been previously missing.
