Spineless

.

To you who truly
treasure self-respect,
has there been a humiliating
instance

when to succumb low,
and sheepishly so,
to public opinion's
preponderance

is neither a betrayal
of your worth
nor a slap to your reason's
countenance?

Do you spinelessly go,
float with the flow
of popular passion and
circumstance?
