Spiked Crown Image

She stands majestically in the sea,
her blind visage etched in
abandoned noble, rainbow ideals

Handcrafted words of beautiful Roman vanity ...
revived, towering graven godly desires
Man-made hypocrisy, Babel copied and stone xeroxed

Preach liberty and freedom,
practice slavery and oppression
A reared idol of falling stars wearing flagging stripes

Spiked crown image standing in the sea,
how diadem crimson deep
flows the buoying waters of democracy faith?

If ever, the gracious words should evaporate:
that all were thus this way created
Into the sands of time, a tilted torch is sinking

Where went the vanished sea that uplifted thee,
whence departed the pride of thine eyes?
A pierced image forever entombed in an oasis mirage

Some of your lines in this are particularly enrapturing, Freddie - simply divine and I so concur with the message. The writes I've seen from you today are as editorials in that they capture opinion and they are poems that contain the oxymorons running rampant in society. Keep that pen stroking! As God's witness, keep it stroking with a care towards never losing the love - this is your talent! At least today. For me. Poetry hugs ... CayCay
