Spider Love
Creeping up the wall,
or out from behind her shawl.
The perfect victim now in sight,
expecting her to be in fright.
They think I only live to fright!
to hunt them down and give a bite.
A monster hiding in the dark,
or lurking about to strike my mark.
But, it's people who frighten spiders,
huge creatures, taller, and even wider.
Wielding a broom or rolled up newspaper,
a shoe or slipper or even gaseous vapour.
So many spiders dead at the hand of man,
yet they fear us? It’s such a sham.
Us spiders have the rough end of the stick,
We’ve had enough, it’s time to coexist.
So move over people and share your beds,
snuggle up to us with our hairy legs.
Embrace a spider to show you care,
We’d kiss your lips if you would only dare.
