Spencer

Sunshine enters my room each morning, even on the cloudiest of days,
As Spencer rises from a nighttime of dreaming
brightening my world in the most wondrous of ways.

He stands beside me with his effervescent smile waiting for my eyes to awake
I am aware of his glorious presence
as continuous slumber I try to fake.

“Good morning, Dad”, no better alarm sound there be than to hear this greeting so sweet
I thank the gods for smiling on me
and through his adoption making my life complete.

Some say blood is thicker than water though I’m not so sure they’re right
The bond with an adopted son or a daughter
for this dad is just as tight.
