Special Sounds

Don't forget the special sounds
you have heard in your life.
Like the whisper of a child
the cooing of your wife

The sound that a bird makes
as it sits outside your panes
The pattering on the roof
of a midsummer's rain.

The sound of the ocean
in a beach's shell
The sound that a pebble makes
down a water well.

The sound of the wind
rustling through the trees
The sound that my heart makes
each time you look at me.

The sound you hear each morning
of your sleeping lover's breath
The sound of your lovers snoring
when they go to bed.

These are all the special sounds
we sometimes take for granted
For when they disappear
Our lives are less romantic.

Those special sounds around you
they envelop and surround you
They make your life worth living
more joyful and more giving

Learn to love all the sounds
you hear every day
You'll learn they make your life
special in every way.
