Special Place

It has been so many years my dear
Since you knocked on heaven’s gate
I have had such a hard time missing you
Until just a while of late

I have trouble bringing your face
To my mind a picture clear
I never thought it possible
That I could not feel you near

But time and human nature!
Has laid you down to rest
And I now have fond memories
And all seems for the best.

We had our time together
And it was tragic how it ended
But after so many years
   my heart has finally mended

I have begun a new life journey
I am not sure where it will lead
But life and love is calling
And I feel I must take heed

You hold a special place
Eternally in my heart
But also I have room there
To make another start.

So as I start this new life journey
To the last love of my life
I have that special place for you
Because I was your wife
