Speaks Volumes
I see but cannot believe my eyes,
I feel but cannot consolidate,
I hear but cannot accept the lies,
I taste and cannot ingest the hate.
I drink but cannot allay my thirst,
I talk but cannot complete the speech,
I fear but cannot abide the worst,
I strain and cannot extend my reach.
I run but cannot escape the pain,
I burn but cannot locate the fire,
I try but cannot achieve again,
I sleep and cannot truly retire.
I know that something has gone amiss,
I know that somehow I lost a friend;
I don't know what that something is,
speaks volumes I cannot comprehend.
