Speaking Eyes

As I looked into the eyes
of one that was smiling,
         my heart
        fell a part.

Leaving only the eyes to speak.

His soul looked back at me
and said for certain,
      through those eyes,
       'I am hurting.'

The thoughts, the cancer, which
       changes life,
sweeps through to fill the soul
         with strife-

Leaving only the eyes to speak.

The tears that want to wash the
           invader away,
only flow when the eyes can't
       find words to say.

Hope keeps the soul from closing
               the door,
but faith holds the key
           for-ever-more.

Leaving only the eyes to speak.

They are always searching for that
                ray of light,
                    to say,
" Everything is going to be all right.'

Thank You Shelly, I wrote that because of my three grown children who had the "speaking eyes" but are now with Jesus, Healthy and Happy. I cannot wait for my Blessed day when I am with them again!
