Spare the rod; spoil the child So the old proverb read -- and into children, injected dread but kept them from going hog-wild Yet many adults just will not hit until they're really mad -- which always turns out very bad leaving them emotionally unfit They lose their cool; they spank too hard The child begins to cry -- He can't figure out, for the life of it, Why ~ Spanking wasn't long ago banned

I'm not a child expert, but have been one all my life...if you don't have love and patience don't have a child... it's not for everybody... beating and abusing has made the world a dangerous place to be...

True -- and too bad that's not how having children and child-rearing are presented. I can't think of anything so important for which there is so little preparation... Sigh. The beat(ings) goes on... ~ gw
