Southern Discomfort
(with thanks to the band "Rehab" for the inspiration)
Just staring blankly
another day of feeling nothin'
praying for somethin'
I guess it's back to that
Prozac wall
how it kills me to see y'all
laughing, lovin' life
joyously enthralled
cold rain empty looks
battered old leather books
things said that I guess I...
mistook
I've forgotten how to smile
wish I could sleep for a while.
I took a look inside my skin
and there's no one in
every day's the same
and there's no one else to blame
I guess I should be happy
I'm alive
but it all feels so...
contrived
just yesterday, really,
he was barely three
was standing at my knee
now he's all grown
up and gone
and I'm just a refrain
from another sad song.
Tortured life filled
with endless rue
how it kills me to...
think of you
happiness is brief
time, a thief
death, a relief
longing for my thoughts to
cease
I've forgotten how to smile
wish I could sleep for a while.
Every muscle and bone aches
reliving all the heartbreaks
I guess it's back to
that voice in my head
telling me I'm dead
sleepless in my bed
unhappiness is the
plague I spread
like a hurricane I destroy
everything in my path
make you forget how to laugh
eyes dark with wrath
gonna' bring you down with me
end it all swiftly
I'll drive you to the brink
from my icy hands you'll shrink
I've forgotten how to smile
wish I could sleep for a while.
