Notes About The Poem

Quote- "Echoeing sounds that appear to be far could actually be in your own backyard"

Sounds From The Forest

As the wild wind blows- sounds from far and near ride the waves
Whistling softly are the echoes of joy and sadness
The listeners- open ears, welcome brought-back memories
Yet, head-droppers and chin-lifters think flashbacks in solace
And when the wild wind turns mild, scent- overcomes sound
Odors and aromas of beauty taint the air like flowers in bloom
While lingering and unpleasant smokes scent the air
Confusion overload to animals, birds and insects
Then, when the mild wind calms to a still- a chorus begins
Chirping crickets and jumping grasshoppers sing high pitch tunes
While hummingbirds and bees hum rhythmic melodies
After, when all is silent- when night is sound- the owl hoots

Hello Charles, You have a wonderful way of layering the senses and I especially loved the transition from the "head-droppers and chin-lifters" lost in their memories to the sudden shift where "scent overcomes sound." Winter Blessings, Charles, Daniel
