Soulmates Never Die
By Kevin Robey

We live in skinny dreams that fell between the seams
May be dimming but we still know how to run free
We're floating carelessly in flawless imagery
When you keep asking me; we're always 17
We found this city in the highlights of our dreams
Where it's just you and me surrounded by our family
Briefly the moon retreats behind the engine steam
Our train keeps running as the sun pours into the sea
And when demons breach the walls we've made
We'll serenade this audience of angels in the sea
They'll bring us fearlessly into the futures we delayed
But when we settle there it's only you and me
We'll smile and laugh in the places we have drowned
They tried to repress the scene before you and me
their eager hands reached to pin us to the ground
But they lost us in the echoes of their hollow hypocrisy
This was the day where the two of us approached the sea
That long ago, devoured our bones and left us out to dry
Today we replace those empty days with better memories
We sit alone, side by side, where soulmates never die
