Notes About The Poem

Soul Reflection

Soul Reflection

Struggling every now and then
trying to pass my own inspection.
Looking through the cracks I see
my own souls reflection.

I hear its echoes in the day
I hear its cries at night.
While looking through the cracks I see
as it sits down to write.

Oblivious to me at all
or that I'm even there.
Or maybe it knows everything?
It simply doesn't care.

I see it bending as it turns
as if to look away.
Looking through the cracks I wonder
will it break today?

My eyes become so weary
it's time now I must sleep.
Looking through the cracks I see
as my soul starts to weep.

I long to reach out to my soul
and ask why must you cry?
Looking through the cracks I see
it's much stronger than am I.

For words are tears for now unborn
not a sign of being weak.
And tears are words for now in wait
until their turn to speak.

Yes, it is much stronger than our mortal selves. Beautifully penned.
