Soul of a Soldier

Yeah I see you and I know you see me
You like the way that I’ve come to be
The man that I am, the thing you are not
A person that’s whole, I can not be stopped

As the sun and the moon change over time
My persona embodies and transcends all time
A woman’s dream man, a man’s worst nightmare
How I conduct myself they can’t help but to stare

For I am whole and so must you shall
To continue this dance, not shallow like Hal
But I don’t complete what is deemed whole
We simply add on to what is already whole

I bless what I touch and I reap what I sow
Something mysterious is what I bring to your door
On the surface you see brown and hazel
But inside this paradigm there can be no appraisal

Accurate enough to define what I am
Simple enough to make you understand
Open enough that all can come and see
But selective enough to maintain my privacy

There’s a war in my mind that no one is safe from
In need of some peace time so one can recoup from
The ongoing struggle, the battle without end
A soul of a soldier who’s lost many a friend

The path less traveled is not that easy
The brush in the way makes the wind less breezy
So now the path becomes hot and muggy
But pressing on forward without the help of a buggy

I can’t lay down my weapon with dreams of someone special
At the end of the road so times become stressful
It doesn’t take much to be a quitter
But it takes more than strength to come out a winner
