Soul Diving
We have to write the poem or song
about our deepest feelings,
strip away all the excuses
down to the honest dealings.
Buried and held so privately
for fear of shame and exposure,
hardly believing we could be good
resisting attempts at disclosure.
Criticized and belittled
by others who can’t compete,
retards the creative process
to keep us from being complete.
So bust a move and go dancing
with the words or music you hear,
dig the treasure within you
to please an eye or an ear.
Enrich the world with your talent
creativity must be free,
dance like nobody’s watching
no telling what you can be.
