"Cry for the soul that will not face the body" Dory Previn

                                               Soul`s Cry

                                 Languishing at mid of the night
                                  To be freed from bodily chains
                                With the body aching with pains
                          And the bones turned rusty with strains,

                                  My soul screams for liberation
                                   From the yoke of human life,
                           And yearns for the end of my journey,
                             With my days being a harsh strife;

                              My health has often betrayed me,
                              Leaving me a storm-stricken soul
                               Craving to quit the shrunken jail,
                                     Offering myself as a toll;

                                 I have cashed in many a blow
                           From envious friends and spiteful foes,
                                  But learnt to let go as a flow
                              And lay throes at the divine shrine;

                                I have gazed at nature`s beauty
                           I have cherished spring`s flowers bloom
                              I have scanned rainbows in the sky
                             I have stared at stars and the moon;

                             I have played my part on the stage
                          I`ve laid my bricks to shape the world
                            I`ve set my name on annals` page
                               And the curtain is close to draw;

                             I`ve sighted sands of time slide by
                            I`ve beheld darkness shrouding me
                              I`ve eyed clouds flying in the sky
                               I`ve trodden deserts in the sun;

                              I`ve wandered alone in the plains
                              I`ve walked in the wild wilderness
                                I`ve strolled lonely in the forest
                               I`ve swallowed pills of bitterness;

                               I have viewed the world`s delusion
                            I have crossed seas with stormy gusts
                                  I have perceived life`s illusion
                               I have witnessed man`s awfulness;

                              I have surveyed hills laid with thorns
                              I have glimpsed trees of my life bend
                                 I`ve brawled many uphill battles,
                                     My journey is close to its end.

                             Lord, let my soul`s cry greet your ears
                                Let me free from this mortal chain
                                Oh Lord, shower your grace on me
                               Oh Lord, release me from my pains;

                               Oh Lord, my soul`s most humble plea
                                       Is to secure a modest lea,
                                 Where I can chant your divine hymns
                                        Till the end of eternity,
                                    Lie down at the feet of your shrine
                                      And merge with your immensity.

Thanks a lot dear U.S for visiting my page and appreciating the above-mentioned poem. For some life may be easy, for others harsh, and still for others harsher, particularly towards the advanced phase when the journey seems long. Wish you meditative writing.
