Sooty Ink Huitain

From the tongues of silent poets,
you cannot be sure what they’ll say.
Come in swiftly and place your bets,
pebbles fill mouths composed of clay.
A message they’re called to display,
finds that reader who understands.
The rhyme quickly flying astray
paints sooty ink onto their hands.
